About Us
Boomer Ball started with a simple idea—and a few very bored pigs.
Nearly three decades ago, David Schultz’s late mother, Joan, was looking for a way to keep their prized pigs from nibbling on each other out of boredom. Her solution was brilliantly simple: give them something tough, durable, and fun to push around. She handed them a heavy plastic ball—and just like that, the concept behind Boomer Ball was born.
What began as a creative fix on a family farm has grown into a trusted name in animal enrichment.
For over 28 years, Boomer Ball, based in Grayslake, has been manufacturing ultra-durable polyethylene balls designed to stimulate play, encourage movement, and improve the well-being of animals of all sizes. Our products are built to withstand the strength and curiosity of powerful animals—from dogs and livestock to some of the most impressive creatures on earth.
Over the years, Boomer Ball has proudly served a wide range of clients, including zoos across the country, world-famous entertainers like Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Siegfried & Roy, and even Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch.
At our core, we believe animals thrive when they are active, engaged, and mentally stimulated. That’s why every Boomer Ball is designed not just to last—but to enrich lives.
From humble beginnings to global impact, we’re proud to continue Joan’s legacy—one ball at a time.
